too much time to think about these
there's a straits times article in today's papers (read it on the online version) which was talking bout unsw starting a campus here but charging a large fee. well thats not what bothers me, the fact that bothers me is, there seems to be a general perception that between the 3 local unis, nus is seemed or thought to be the best?? okay, now a most part of you are going to be thinking has napkin man gone bonkers in ntu?? is he actually so proud of he's school??is he actually so bo liao to be bothered bout this??.
well im just abit annoyed that with no ranking system in place whatsoever, how the hell do ppl make judgements like that?? do they base it on the courses they offer? cut off point for entry??value addedness?? employment opportunities?? hmms its just so weird, and people are also saying smu is the school to be in. well true to the extent because i know the girls there are blardy pretty, but other than that, why the hell would i wanna go there if i have no absolute interest in business??!! well if jio'ing girls was a paying job i'd gladly go there then. and nanyang business school offers the same degree with honours in 3 years rather than the 4 of smu so im thinking isn't it faster to do it here? ohh yes but one has to consider that the more time ur degree takes, the more time u can spend jio'ing char bo, so yeah thats actually a smarter alternative, plus the fact that u get subsidised golf lessons and an occasional swim from bintan back to spore.. splendid.
ok im not defending nan-da here, in fact im quite chessed off with some of the things in the system, but i guess i'll survive. i just wish ppl could stop comparing schools as if their livelihood depended on it. but if u must, go NAN DA!!!
another point of interest: i was watching discovery travel and adventure the other day and they were introducing hawaii and some fruit company on the island of maui. apparently they find starfruit and most particularly durians an 'exotic' and different thing from the norm. in fact, they even mentioned that durians are so rare that they fetch a price of 30 -40 US dollars. cant believe it!! if those durian ppl from here were doing business there, they'd be rich!! or we should juz start to export durians there, the fta will work to our advantage, cept of coz we gotta convince bush that durians arent bombs in disguise..
