finally after so long...
i went clubbing for the first time in my life yesterday! my housemates jio'ed me to go, i was like 'but i don't cheong one leh, i wanna stay home and study...' but still my ass got dragged down.
ok that didn't sound very convincing. fine, they din drag me down, i did.. and it wasn't clubbing for the first time in my life, but at least it was my first time in toronto! yeap, was down at this club called the guvernment, as some of you should have recalled from my earlier post, its like the zouk of toronto. yeah the setup of the club is quite similar to zouk in the sense that there's their version of 'phuture' which played hip hop, but they have this mc rapping along.. and then there's the 'velvet' area also.. for the main floor, its this uber massive dance space in the middle with ubber big speakers at the 4 corners pointing directly at the mid space.. damn loud if u stand in the middle. then the dj console is on the 2nd level.. which is quite sucky, cos like u need to really strain your neck to look up at him if u're near the front.
ok first up, the highlights, and there's really only one highlight of last night, it was dave seaman of cos. his set was sooo good, read the crowd pretty well and basically awesome. and he was interacting with the crowd so much, getting them to clap along, to cheer and stuff .. and he'd hold the bass and drum beat till the crowd goes crazy before releasing the oomph oomph oomph... and the dj before him (i think he's the resident) was quite good.. but i quite draggy at times..
now the bad: firstly, dave seaman only came on at 230.. by that time i was already quite shagged out from a long day. but the ultimate bad was the crowd!! ok you haf the usual youngsters and stuff, but then they dance very farnie, jumping up and down (i think they all got e'd out or someting).. and everybody is soo rude, they just jostle their way for space, and they will just shove you off if u are standing in their way, or just like bang into you.. fuggers. then you have the aunties and uncles! i mean wtf is this??!! my fren was exclaiming that they shud also have a max age limit. back home in spore, when u see auntie or uncle clubbing, quite cute since like they are like one outta 100?? but here it was like half the floor was full of them!!i admire their young at heartness, but then it is quite a turn off when the uncles take off their shirts, and the aunties try to act sexy.. (i dunno,you guys prolly don't have that much peeve about them.. maybe its just me) and the FINAL OMG I CANNOT TAKE THIS WTF IS GOING ON bad is... THEY DON'T SERVE ALCOHOL AFTER 2!!!! i mean dave seaman came on at 230.. but then i cant get a normal beer to go along with the good music??? wahh really pissed off man.
haiz so that was my adventure for the night.. din stay for the whole dave seaman set.. we left at 430 cos buay tahan liao.. went back concussed till 2 in the noon today. (aniwei my blogger time is according to singapore time in case u guys get confused..)
