post camp review
finally, we ended camp on saturday night (or rather very early sunday morning, and a hangover in the noon). i din expect myself to pull it through that far.. i guess i really wanted it to end because of all the unexpected mishaps.. but i didn't want it to end coz the freshies were just fantastic (and i don't just mean pretty girls)
thru the organisation of the camp, i've learnt lots and lots of stuff. for starters, you may be good frens with ppl, but that doesnt necessarily mean that you work well together, and when the ugly side surfaces, often it hits you like a speeding truck travelling at 200kmh.
and it doesnt help that people run out on you when it matters the most, worse of all, they don't settle the stuffs that they need to do before running off, leaving you in a lurch. i think it just all boils down to why they took up the position in the first place.. i fear that nobody actually does it for the passion, and for the joy of seeing the fun that the freshies have anymore. its all about "how many points am i getting out of it, how much do i have to pay for it, how much work must i do, why must i help other ppl's portfolio when its not my job".
worse still are the people who stand around, compare different camps, give their 2 cents worth but don't bother putting in the effort. to these ppl i don't give a fuck about your opinions. if you can do a better job, why don't i see you volunteering your services.. and its very frustrating to hear ppl griping about the inadequacy of the camp committee, or how the camp is run. its frustrating not because it came from the freshies (in fact i really think the freshies had a fun time, even though there was alot of waiting time, but then they all enjoyed themselves). its frustrating becoz it came from our very own seniors. i mean if all you do is come and stand around and look see look see, and compare with last year's camp.. i do hope you take up the position of chair and co chair to know exactly how pressurising it is to be overseeing 101 things at the same time. im sorry im not as zai as an officer... and i'll never be, but then please understand what the hell i have to go thru before you say things like 'i think the main comm is fuck up' or 'how come there's no proper accomodation for the freshies (its not as if sleeping on the beach is such a bad thing, its quite fun afterall wat). it doesnt matter to me what they say as im not going to be around for a year, but i don't think its fair for the ppl under my charge who have given their all just to see everything work out. so please use some brains before opening your golden mouth to comment.
but i must add a disclaimer that there is still a glimmer of hope. the core team that has been supporting me and each other, the willingness to go all the way even if it means sacrificing sleep and rest and the opportunity to mingle with their own clans. i am grateful for these few people.i think what separates them from the rest is that they are interested in making things happen.. not what they stand to benefit, or recognition for a job well done, but the silent perserverance to want to make it work out, and to see happy ppl playing silly games. and it doesnt matter if the he or she is efficient, i guess i really appreciate the effort and the motivation, and the intiative to offer their help.
so in finishing, heres a salute to the ppl who have put in the effort : pravin, maxine, elvin, junming, kc (and darren and ah qin), danny, norman (the subcomm who did the most work),milton (cept the 5 deadly mistakes) and ede (the person holdin 3 portfolios at one point in time).. and to all my 4 CGLs.. you were great handling the freshies.. good job good job... to the rest whom i din mention.. well here's an advice: work harder and you'll achieve great things...
well so its now all toronto for me and goodbye hall 8... hope you will be blessed with more enthusiastic ppl nxt time.. but then again with the decision to award halls based on distance from home.. i think the future looks gloomy.. pravin, all the best!!

eating snake
finally managed to find some time for a nice deserve break. the freshies are at some joint hall event to break a world record for speed dating (mmm nxt time we shud juz haf a world record for number of ppl playing dota)... yupps, so while they are there i am eating snake here in my room coz im not involved.. actually i feel quite guilty slacking, feel that i shud be there to at least just take a look (ok lar who am i kidding, i wanna be there to see the other hall chio bu's lar).
first major thing happened, some msian girl lost her wallet, then have to bring her go to report to the student center and then cancel atm card.. so break cut short by 1 hr, but ok lar, at least she's not that flustered and she quite ok with it (i think not first time losing it bah...). alrites i shall sleep for 1 hr and then go bio char bo later..

the search is over
how can i convince you
what you see is real
how am i to blame u
for doubting what you feel
i was always reaching
you were juz a girl i knew
i took for granted
the friend i have in you
i was living for a dream
loving for a moment
taking on the world
that was just my style
now i look into your eyes
i can see forever
the search is over
you were with me all the while
can we last forever
will we fall apart
at times its so confusing
the questions of the heart
you followed me thru changes
and patiently u'd wait
till i came to my senses
thru some miracle of fate

nightmare on chicky street
went to student's affairs office to show our proposal, glad that they approved the whole thing, so that's one load of my mind. then went to eat at seoul garden with danny, mich, prav and max... i had so much chicken that i'm swearing off chicken for the nxt 1 week (but i don't think that'll happen). there was like char siew chicken, tom yam chick, garlic chicken, sze chuan chicken and some chicken b-something one...
got the freshie list today, and i am happy, the incoming freshies look better than all the other batches combined (ok im juz kidding!) but i was really surprised that there were so many people that are so enthu about joining hall camp. last year we only like had 8 ppl thru the joint hall list, maybe one reason was also because last year joint hall really screwed up. but this year was good, each clan already have 14 to 15 pax, and that means the battle is half won. and the real bonus was, each clan have at least 2 pageant material girls.. if u do the maths, that means 8 more chio bu's in hall!!!! great considering i wont be staying in hall for the nxt year.. arghh!!!!
torn between toronto and freshies... (i'd still choose toronto of coz!!)

cocktail of emotions
the reality of it all is hitting me like a fast speeding truck. hall orientation is in one week, not counting the fact that registration starts on thursday and friday, plus pre camp is on saturday.
and i fear everything is not in order. its quite frustrating when people don't have a sense of urgency in the things they do. camp is in one weeek!! well, i blame it on the inexperience of myself i guess, i am realising that i'm not really a good planner, im more of a people pleaser, the one that can get people's spirits up. but when it comes to getting people to do things, i guess i do not fare that well, prefering to be soft hearted and apply the 'ok lor, you got something on that day then nevermind lor' approach. and its not helping that im not getting as much support from the people that could help most as i would have like it.
i keep getting a feeling that im forgetting something, you know the nagging feeling that something's bound to screw up, esp for soemthing as large scale as this.
then there's the exchange. im not particularly hyped up yet, just glad that the paperwork is done, but now there's the headache of finding cheap tickets and accomodation. probably the sianess of organising a camp has numbed me of all emotions.
haiz.. i hope everything turns out well....

just to update
nothing much to say, rather nothing much to say here. just figured since i havent updated in a week, i'll post something to make it look updated. okays, finally got the black and white hard copy letter of acceptance from toronto, and my subjects are all approved, so i guess im going, now the bitch part is looking for the air tickets and accomodation.
and orientation is in 2 weeks time so i'll be pretty busy from now till then, so shall be meeting up with frens only after that.. so stay tune to ur phones to await my call (the one ring to rule them all, mauahhahaa)
thats all for now, not in the mood to write much, as some of my brudders will know why..muahahahah
